SMS attack seeks iPhone user data

The user receives an SMS that informs you that your Apple ID has expired and you must click on a link to reactivate the account.

This link directs the victim to a page created by hackers where requested information such as name, address and even passport number, reports the NBCBayArea.com.



The site where the user is redirected not have an Apple domain, but hackers have found creative ways to trick the user with pages like Supportatapple.com or AppleIDLogin.com.

The safety recommendations go through not click the link or enter your details on unofficial pages.
Apple itself recommends that users do not send data as credit card information, passwords or sensitive account information unless we recognize the competence of the recipients.

Another useful data to identify this scheme is that Apple does not have a rule to delete the Apple ID users.

There's no official recognition of this threat by Apple, nor is it known how many users may have already been victimized.
